1990 f150 4x4 conversion

hey there, I just got the best news ever. my dad gave me his 1990 f150 300 inline 6 2x4. this is the truck i learned to drive in and im super excited to have it. ive had big plans for this truck ever since i was 15.

im thinking of turning the 2 wheel drive into 4 wheel. its also an automatic and i want it to be manual. the truck in more sentimental than anything so i want to keep it. ( I know i can get a junker 4x4 for cheap)

my questions are do they make a conversion kit of some kind or do i need to buy the parts out right. if so, what parts will in need, any tips, and any brands preferences. also, could i buy a junked 4x4 and use those parts?

any info would be greatly appreciated!

thanks, James

I'd contact these guys to see if they'll send you a kit. Or, if they can offer any advise. Otherwise you're stuck pulling the parts off of a 4x4 from a wrecking yard.
