1992 Ford E350 Transmission problems
I drive a small wheelchair bus powered by a 7.3L diesel ford engine.
I have trouble with the transmission. When the yellow overdrive light is flashing, the transmission works well. When the light is not lit, I have to manually change the gears. Now, if I hit a large bump on the road, then the overdrive light will flash and the bus will function normally again. Is it harmful for me to shift manually, especially when I am underload?. Any help would be appreciated Keith |
RE: 1992 Ford E350 Transmission problems
Iam not sure what you mean you have to shift manually , as shift into OD. or shift all the gears ? , if your under a load I hope your letting up off the throttle a bit first . you said you hit a bump an it goes to working , Sounds like a bad connection somewhere , The 92's were really bad about the Thin lil wires in the coloum breaking off at the connections. killing OD. not that hard of a repair , you get a new shift handle to make the repair , you might want to try a junk yard to save a few bucks. If I was travelling under 50 mph I would kick OD out anyway.
