2005 Five Hundred no cluster and B/U are always on
 

HI there everyone

I have inherited my mothers five hundred SEL 162K. the car runs really really great.
took it to Myrtle Beach SC 2 weeks ago and No problems at all, come home and let it sit for about a week. come out to start it up and starts right up.
the issue is my instrument cluster is dead, backup lights are always on, I checked for any loose connections and bad fuses put all the fuses are good.
Any help received would be most helpful, thanks in advanced.

With the key on and placed in reverse , what do you get at the instrument cluster ?

It does sound like the instrument cluster is looking for a good ground path which is usually through wires under the dash that are connected to a sheet metal ground.

With the absence of a good ground path it may be utilizing the B/U light circuit.

with the car in reverse there is still no cluster working.
