2006 Ford E-350 transmission clunking/slipping

Hi everyone,

In July my 2006 E-350 torque convertor chewed itself apart and destroyed my transmission. The transmission was rebuilt by a reputable show and was driving great. About a 1000 miles later, it developed clunking and hard shifting when starting from a stop under load and warm. I took it back to the shop...they check the trans and said it was fine but when they could not find anything out definitely wrong, they changed it again...still had the same problem. They checked the wiring harness between the trans and computer and it was fine. They then decided it was the computer which was replaced and seemed to fix the problem.

Now about 300 miles later, it is clunking again from a stop in all gears (D, 2, 1) except reverse. It is especially noticible when starting from a stop in a steady manner (normal acceleration). When accelerating hard or babying it, nothing abnormal happens. More noticible going up a hill from a stop. It only clunks/slips(?) hard in the starting gear.

I have a 3000 mile trip planned in 4 weeks and need to get this figured out.

Any ideas???

Thanks,
Brian
