351 block casting number
I pulled a 351 out of an 85 ltd. The casting numbers are D9AE 6015 ed 15 and 2C18. Igather the d9ae means 79 auto engine and the 6015 is the part number for the engineblock. from thereon i cant figure out what the numbers mean. Also, I think thisengine was the original but wonder why an 85 would have a 79 block in it. did this79 block design stay with newer ford cars? anyway, i've been trying to figure thisout for quite a few days and cant get past the 6015. does anyone know what the ED 15and the separate 2c18 numbers mean? i sure would be thankful. PSThere's also a number CB179327 stamped on the left rear face of the block below thehead.

what motor am I dealing with?
I recently pulled the block code off of my 1965 mustang and I found "d9ae-6015-ED17" I understand this to be a 79 ford block under the "general production" category of ford. I was wondering if this block came off of a crown victoria and what size it is. Is this a 302, 289, or 351 block?
