Adding trailer lights to 2005 Mustang
I am adding a hitch to my mustang for a small fishing boat. I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to attach the trailer lights. I read there could be a problem with splicing into the wires. If anyone has done this and could show me a pic it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
RE: Adding trailer lights to 2005 Mustang
Most people don't put trailers on mustangs and I would'nt my self either.
not good for the car longevity or resale value, also I think you would have to use a class c hitch to the frame. Most trailer recepticles will come with directions to install and a diagram of what each wire does. I doubt the instructions include Mustangs so you will have to identify the purpose of each wire on your carby tracing it out or using A schematic of the wiring for your car. You may have a problem with location of the wiring if it located inside the vehicle instead of underneath attached to the frame. I know its a lot cheaper to put a hitch on your car but I would recomend you pick up a beater truck. Good luck |

I do not know of any plug and play, it looks as if you stuck with universal. However you could possiblely make a plug in. Find the closest tail light harness connector with the wires needed un plug and the from the junkyard find thesame ends wire up the universal to junkyard parts and install..........

Here is everything anyone else would need to do what I did. The hard wiring is done and my hitch is on. Took the kids out fishing with the top down some time ago.
