Adding trailer plug to bed

Howdy All.
I have a 06 F250 SD 6.0L I want to add a plug in the bed for my trailers. I had an 03 that we added a plug and I just crawled under the truck and unplugged the bumper plug and plugged in the other. Is the wiring the same on the 2 trucks and has anyone done this successfully. The other truck didn't have the tow master systems built in either. Any help appreciated....
:)

RE: Adding trailer plug to bed

Question is a 'little' unclear.. Quote.. (and unplugged the bumper plug and plugged in the other)

If your asking if you can extend the 'hitch' mounted factory trailer plug by hard wiring, or extension, and/or mount it in the bed for a 5th/gooseneck setup, then the answer is yes.. Or a connection can be made to the harness along the way where it might make for a better routing, and still leave the trailering plug available.. It doesn't make any difference if you have the 'tow command' option or between the different MY's... Trucks that aren't ordered with tow command, or tow package, will still have the trailering harness at the back of the truck, but will have a coupler 'hub' that needs an RV female type bladed plug installed into it.. Is this the 'other' that you refer to on the 03?

RE: Adding trailer plug to bed

Sorry if I was unclear. The plug that I had in the old truck was one my other half made up for it. But it never was hard wired into the truck. I would unplug the bumper plug from the main harness and then in turn plug in the home made one.
