AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES

I have a 1993 ford Aerostar in great shape! Except for the airbag light is flashing a code, sometimes it flashes 13 and sometimes it flashes 51. I have found out what the codes mean, and I am a pretty good mechanic, but is this something I should attempt to fix on my own. Also same car puffs blue smoke when I first start it up, I don't burn any oil but my transmission goes low on transmission fluid. Can this be a vacuum modulator problem? Ford Dealer in Joplin, Mo. Said that this car doesn't have a modulator.???

RE: AIR BAG LIGHT FLASHES

Hi I don't know if this will help but I have a 1992 Aerostar. My air bag light used to flash mine was two problems one dirty ignition lock cylinder two loose wire in ignition switch fixed both at same time not sure wich did it.Lock cylinder had been replaced by previous owner so that is why it got dirt and grease on contacts.Hope it helps good luck.

My problem like that was I hadRemoved the airbag and cleaned up everything including my cruise control switches. I had forgotten to plug it back on when i reassembled it. It flashed until I plug it back in.
