Brake Pads
Hi, my name is Nelson from Nyc Queens
Ijust brought a F-Explorer V8 (Eddie Bower ) 41250 mls. When i went to get the oil changed on my Ford they showed me how thin the brake pads were on all four wheels. I guess its time to get my self some new brake pads. Question: Can anyone point me in the right direction concerning buying new pads. I use my truck for normal use not off road yet but being that im more then half of the time on the highways and with my family, i wanted to make sure to get some good brakes for my truck that will not squeek and stop when i need it to stop. Thank you all[sm=americanasmiley.gif] |

RE: Brake Pads
Check with your local parts store to see if they carry a SEMI-CERAMIC pad. These will lessen rotor wear, improve stopping ability and do not squeak/squeal. I run these on my 2000 Taurus. As far as rotors go, the OEM rotors are thinner these days then when rotors first came out. Depending on mileage, you may be abble to get one cut on them. However, depending on the present state of the rotor (warpage, high spots and such), you could spend $10-20 per rotor to have them turned only to find out that they are below minimum specs and need to buy new rotors anyways. Being family safety oriented like myself, it's just better for a few dollars more to replace the rotors with new ones and know that they are good.

RE: Brake Pads
Thanks again guys. I will check my local auto part store and see if they have what i need for my truck.
But is there a specific name brand that you guys like over other name brands concerning the brake pads? I rather spend a little bitmore and make sure that the brake pads will run good. You know the old sane; YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. (Rotors are good) Thanks again guys:) |
RE: Brake Pads
So far so good with the Autozone brand pads and rotors on my 2000 Taurus. I only hade problems with electronics from Autozone.
