Converter Stall choice, any ideas?
Hi guys, I'm running a 1979 ford thunderbird with a 69 429 thunderjet and c6
I have my engine pushing out about 380hp and 450 ft/lbs, my transmission was just rebuilt and I have a couple of options. I don't know what to do for stall speed, I don't race, just the odd ricer, I like to cruise, and I don't want to burn through anymore gas then I have to. Should I just get a new stock converter or should I go up to like a 2400 stall ? I hear about all these cameros and mustangs running like 3200 and 3600 stall but I know they have the higher reving small blocks. I have a tci breakaway coming in for free but its rated at between 2400 and 2600 for stall , and a stock converter that just came in for $200. what do you guys think? there is a trany cooler at the same place as the tci converter is coming in so heat is covered |
