Dinging Noise
I own a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport. There is a dinging noise, sounds like a sensor. When all the doors and everything are closed and I start to drive it sounds like one of the sonsors are malfunctioning. It does go away but it comes back after awhile when I am driving. Does anyone know what this might be, or is this a normal problem for this model.
Sounds like the seatbelt alarm. Check in the dash area to see if the no seatbelt light is lit. If not turn the key to the on position, I think during the "turn on check" the no seat belt should light up and go away to make sure the bulb isn't burned out. Then you can still look into the seatbelt sensor is that is the case. But to me, that definately sounds like the seat belt alarm.
Hmm. I see you said when you drive away. But it isn't dinging before you move? If that is the case, look into the emergency brake. Once you start to move, and if it isn't all the way down to activate or unactivate( I am not sure which way) yje sensor switch, it will start dinging when you start to move and will stop, and then ding again.
no it dings no matter what, when it is started it chimes about 4 sets of 4 dings. then stops. I am thinking maybe that sensor is just bad, if I can't figure it out within a couple of weeks it is going into ford.
