Dropping a 3.8 T-Bird Motor....
Hey everyone,
I'm posting this b/c I thought I might some some feed back from someone who knows this better than me. I currently drive a 1996 Ford Mustang V-6. I am thinking about buying a brand new 3.8 T-Bird Motor with the supercharger and dropping it in my Mustang. I was wondering a few things: 1. How hard would it be? 2. does the wiring match up? or do I have to get all new wiring? 3. Can my transmission handle the new motor? I have a 5spd. 4. Does it really match up? By this I mean does both 3.8 Motors match up like power wise. I have done my research the T-Bird is def. better motor with more Horsepower and Torque. I know that my stang is slow right now but with this new motor, I will have more torque than the 99-04 Mustang GT's.. Anyone with some advice, Please let me know...
Thanks
Travis
Did the factory use the same 5 speed trannies as the 5.0 stangs? If so then it should definitely be adequate to harness the power from the new 6. and you said 'brand new'.. are there 'new' supercharged v6's still in production? I'd imagine that the motor would just drop in without any problems, I don't know too much about this but I thought it seemed interesting and i'd like to see the finished product. My parents own a '96 I think with the supercharged v6, and man that thing hauls!
