fan blows on high
IT'S THE RESISTOR PACK! the switch is wired through resistors for all speeds except high speed [which is powered direct] you should trace the wiring back from the fan motor to the resistor pack [ it is simply held in with two screws and the plug] i don't have a book in front of me now ; but i think [on the 96] it is under the hood, inboard of the fan. if the fan is under the dash then the pack is probably behind the glove box. cheap part . buying it first could help you know what to look for. DO NOT power it up until it is installed. it could burn your fingers or damage the resistors. of course there could be other causes [but not likely in this case]
