Ford Escape 08-14/some pickups to A/C drier failure destroys entire A/C system.

Never heard or or ever seen a dryer/receiver ("accumulator" depending on whom you are talking to) cause an A/C system to fail. The dryer/receiver serves 2 purposes. It has a desiccant pack inside of it to absorb any excess moisture in the system and to hold any liquid refrigerant/oil that may be returning towards the compressor so that the compressor doesn't liquid lock. You want cold low pressure gas only getting to the compressor.
Now any time you open the A/C system, one should replace the dryer/receiver and never over charge the system with refrigerant as the dryer/receiver can only hold a small amount of excess refrigerant.
Has your system been worked on?

Pretty interesting. I haven't heard of that issue. Know several folks with 2008-2010's with 70,000+ mile on them with no issues. That's both Escapes and Mariners. Guess if one hasn't had a failure, then a replacement would be on order to feel OK with the A/C system.
