My 2011 Focus has less that 7000 miles on it. Recently, it has failed to start on cooler mornings. When I turn the key, the starter runs & runs, but the motor will not fire. This morning, I went to start the car, and the same thing happened. I kept turning the key, and held it in the start position for about 15 seconds before the motor slowly sputtered to life. It then ran fine. It only happens on cold starts, usually only in the morning. I know it is under warranty, but I was looking for an idea as to what might cause this before I go to the dealer.

 

There could be one of several reasons.
Best bet is to have dealer take care of it especially if it becomes troublesome, then it is on record, if necessary to pursue in the future.
