Good cleaner for electrical contacts?

My 99 explorer has the towing package, so I have a 7-pin trailer wiring connector underneath the rear bumper. Over the course of the winter, the cap somehow managed to disappear, and now the electrical pins are all corroded, thereby making my trailer hookups not work. Ford tells me that that connector is part of the body wiring harness and not easily replaceable on it's own.

Does anyone know of a good cleaner I could use on those corroded contacts that might clean them up and make them work again so I don't have to rip off the connector and try to solder a new one on?

Brake cleaner and a wire brush, like a gun cleaner. Then grease it up with wheel bearing grease. ;)
