hard ride

Hi there , I have just bought a97 ranger great little truck , with one problem, i live in central TX on a caleche road , and it dances, bounces and tries to steer from the rear , the shocks look and feel ok, is there any way of softening the suspension to keep the tires in contact with the gravel ? , loaded its fine, but empty i have to stop to pick up my spectacles off the floor . it's a realy spine jaring ride .

Slow down? The Ranger unlike other small trucks is still a truck. Weight capacity is 1250 pounds. With this said, the rear suspension needs to be heavier giving an unladen BOUNCE-A-RIDE. You could remove one of the inner springs, but lose carring capacity. Or you could convert it to a coil system by using the suspension out of an Aerostar. Just a couple of thoughts.
