The head scratcher

Hello all, I have a 2010 E250 with the 5.4, and I'm still scratching my head. The tensioner pulley bearing fried and allowed the pulley to sit against the timing cover and stay true enough to where the belt kept it spinning, cutting a nice little circle into the timing cover. Wouldn't be too bad of an issue except it ate through enough to push oil through the front, so I need a new cover. First problem I see is going to be the valve covers, do you have to lower the engine for them to clear? Going from the doghouse side the driver's cover looks pretty tight, hoping someone's done a timing job and can lend some advice. Thanks!
