I am a little disappointed........
at the lack of suggestions I received concerning diagnosing this problem I had with the 98 Explorer Xlt 4.0 (I got all of none). I thought this was a Ford Explorer forum. No offense. I own several Hondas and have always had good luck getting advice from guys on the Honda forums when there is a problem that has had me stumped. Needless to say I was a little disappointed with the lack of help here. I never thought a bunch offorums would be more helpful than a Ford forum.[sm=dontgetit.gif]

RE: I am a little disappointed........
Hate to see anyone disappointed..
Some do fall through cracks or go unanswered, and members get busy and so on so I'll fall on the knife :) But to answer your questions, No, disconnecting the modules won't or shouldn't have any real running affects.. But if you had burned an ignition/plug wire there should have been a misfire code.. Even more so if now running worse and if being driven.. Is this concern only under acelleration.. Has a good stable idle? |
RE: I am a little disappointed........
Thanks, I just put new plugs and wires on the XLT 2 weeks ago. I have never had this happen but after I chekced every electrical and emmision part on the thing it was a defective brand new spark plug. It was a Bocshe platinum. Never would have thought.

Glad it was a simple fix....

RE: I am a little disappointed........
Might be a good idea to replace the Bosch plugs with original equipment plugs. Fords do not like Bosch.

RE: I am a little disappointed........
Yeah, I have heard that the fords do not like the Bratwurst plugs. So, you suggest Motorcraft or Autolite? Isn't autolite Ford stuff? Correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: I am a little disappointed........
I think Motorcraft is Ford.
