I was having a problem with my 92 escort, 1.9, a/c, p/s, auto, in that it would start ok, but within a minute, it would start to run rough, like it wasn't getting any fuel, and the check engine light would come on intermittantly. I changed the fuel filter, and now the idle is too low and the check engine light is on constantly, but it runs smooth until it dies! What did I screw up?

 

If you could get a free scan for that engine light somewhere, post the code here. That would be very helpful

Being a 92, you may not get a free scan at a parts store since the old EEC system needs a proper scanner.
