inertia switch

Please can anyone tell me how to reset an inertia switch on a 91 probe /and how do you check it to see if it is working. I can't get fuel pump to work unless I jump it.

RE: inertia switch

There's a button on the top of it. Just push the button in. You should hear a click as it locks down and power should be supplied to the pump. If it doesn't click down, or does click down and the engine still doesn't start it's pretty safe to say the switch is bad since you can jump it and have voltage to the pump.
