Keyless Remote Question

I just ordered a new keyless remote for my 98 Ford Explorer. When I activate this, does it deactivate the old one, since I lost it? And does anybody have the Programming Instructions for it, or is it usually the basic, turn ignition on, press lock and repeat the steps 4 or 5 times until it locks the doors?

RE: Keyless Remote Question

Once the car is programmed to recognize your new remote, the old one will not work.

Doors close, turn key to on and off(don't start engine) rapidly 5 or 8 times(forgot which), ending in the on position. When the chime sounds and all the doors lock and unlock, push any button on the remote and it should be programmed.

RE: Keyless Remote Question

 If you lost only one of your remotes, you'll also need to reprogram your remaining remote along with your new one. After you've gone through the on/off switch sequence to enter the programming mode, you just press a button on the remote you wish to program... The door locks will cycle to acknowledge success for that remote. You then press a button on the next remote, and you should get another lock cycle. You need press only one button on each remote.

All of the remotes you program during a single programming session will now work with your vehicle, and the programming erases any previous remote controls from memory.
