Motor swap in a 92 Ranger

Does anyone know about or has anyone swapped a 3.8 for a 2.3 in a 92 Ranger? I have a complete totaled 2000 mustang sitting in the driveway taking up space and my Ranger is soon to be needing an engine. Having never done this type of a swap before I thought it best to consult the guru's of wisdom. I have done same for same motor swaps, trannys and rearends but never this. Can you foks point me in the right direction for info on what I will need. All help is appreciated because the question may be a dumb one, but the answers are not!

Thanks in advance,
Zeusfan

RE: Motor swap in a 92 Ranger

You have a 92 Ranger with a 2.3 L and want to put the 3.8 L from the 2000 Mustang in the Ranger correct? I've never seen a swap like that done seeing that the 2000 Mustang's 3.8 L is computer controlled and OBDII compliant and your 92 Ford Ranger isn't . Sound like more of a headache then it's worth.. you would not only have the engine swap to worry about but the wiring and the computer too... if you want that engine to run right. I would just get another 2.3L or a older v6 or v8 that isn't computer controlled and put that in it.
