MY '98 EXPLORER HAS SERIOUS ISSUES

Default MY '98 EXPLORER HAS SERIOUS ISSUES

MY FRONT END MAKES A CLICKING SOUND AND VIBRATES. I THINK IT MIGHT BE MY DIFF. THEN MY DRIVER DOOR LOCK BUT DOESN'T UNLOCK. I THINK THAT MIGHT BE THE LOCKING SOLENOID. ANYONE WITH ANY ADVICE WOULD BE OF GREAT HELP.

If you only hear the clicking sound when you turn, it is could possible that you need new wheel bearings or ball joints. But first try and pack the seals and joints with grease and see if the clicking goes away. Also usually when you make a hard right or left the outside front wheel will hop, that is normal on 4WD.

And as for the door, its sound like the door switch is the problem. If it locks then the wires to the soleniod are good. It unlocks be reveasing the polarity to the solenoid. If the other door locks and unlocks you might be able to test your door with its switch.

clicking=bad cv axle shaft my wife has 98 eplorer sport allwheel drive,door lock=bad lock accuator

Agree with the axle shaft and joints, disagree with the accuator, if it works one way it should the other, its the switch.
