RE: Cleaning headlights? suggestions?
you can purchase plastic polish if your lights are plastic, ive only ever used it on ATV's and dirtbikes, shines them up real good, and helps keep the mud off. once you get them clean wax them as you would the rest of your car, helps keep then free of mud and dirt.

What vince said will work. You can also use a soft rubbing compound and electric buffer to clean them, but you have to be extremely careful when doing this to not burn the lens cover.

Wetsand them with 1500 or 2000 grit paper & machine buff with microfinish compound. You can't hurt them cause they're already bad. If you want to take them out, you could clearcoat them after buffing with polyurethane clear. Unlike the plastic or lexan the lamp is made of, the clear actually has ultraviolet protection from the sun, so it won't get dull again. We do it all of the time to headlamps, sidemarkers & tailamps.

I've used the sanding/ high temp.clear coat method for years. As long as the prep-work and humidity is right, it will look good. Problem is that for me, it's more difficult to prepthe newer non-light scatter lens (or diamond cut lamps, whatever you want to call it) if the scratches are fine to hold the c/ coat, they show through. If the scratches are near invisible it won't hold the c/ coat for long and flakes off. A '91 Subaru I did 4 years ago still looks brand new and like glass. Anybody had better luck than me- long term,on the newer headlamps? Thanks all.

My 2001 Windstar headlights were definitely yellowish. I googled for the best products for it and found many suggestions using a regular tooth paste. I tried it casually. The result? Good enough! Very cheap and just spend 15 minutes at most for both lights. Not bad. I'm sure professional jobs and high-end products will do much better jobs. But it's cheap and easy. Give it a try!
