Need Help With A Noise...
I have a 1994 Ford Probe(4cylinder/automatic). My mechanic installed a rebuilt rightside axel the other day. This is the first time I have drove it since I took it back home from the mechanics. I got on the highway and noticed that when I slow down below 50 miles an hour my car from up front makes a loud high pitched shrieking sound. When I slow down below 40 miles an hour in addition to this sound there is a faint what sounds like metal scraping(nothing is hanging down from the car touching the ground). When I go above 50 both sounds stop as well as when I come to a complete stop both sounds stop then too. I am not even sure its the axel, it could be something totally different, but that is the only change I made to it since then. Anyone know what this could be? I have to get to work over the weekend, and the mechanic won't be open again til Monday morning. I am kinda scared to drive it but don't have any other way to get there as my roommate is out of town. Thanks!!
