Just bought Lincoln (2000) town car 4 D 8 cyl Signature Series,
Question, There is a red blinking light on top of the dash , in the center, the light stays on when the car is parked, How do you turn this light off , when parked, ?. The light will turn off automatically when the ignition is on or in accessories mode. Any assistance appreciated, incidentially the manual does not give a clear view of the operation of this light.

I would strongly assume its an Security Alarm System Indicator-Light (meaning its armed when blinking).

 

The blinking red light is indeed the Security System Indicator.

In theory, the red light alerts possible intruders to the fact that your vehicle is equipped with an alarm system, and that the system is in the "armed" condition. If you defeat (turn off) this indicator lamp, someone would have to break a window to test for an alarm system.
