Default Serial No. Lookup for classic Ford

Hey. I've done quite a bit of research but I cannot seem to pin this serial number down so I come here in search for help you may be able to provide. I work at a Conservancy in Michigan and on one of our preserves, we encountered scraps from a car. I could not identify much except that it was a classic sort of build. I'm thinking 1950s era. I wish I had pictures that I could supplement you all with. I grabbed a plaque that was inside the door. Here is the information given on it:

Serial No: *B1DA249779*
Production Code: 14L386 (The '8' was punched through and I only see the bottom loop, 99% confident it's an '8')
Body: 70B
Color: B
Trim: D

"Made in USA by Ford"

I've tried various sites but most seem to want a 17-digit code whereas mine is only 10-digits. I've gotten inconsistent results where I've searched. Any knowledge on this vehicle or any advice you can provide is very much appreciated.

I'll try to help with what I can...

VIN number "B1DA249779 should be as follows:

B = 239 CID L-Head Flat Head 8 cylinder
1 = 1951
DA = Dearborn, MI assembly plant
249779 = Consecutive Unit Number (Assigned when the vehicle was ordered, not the numberic sequence that it was built)

Body "70B" = Custom Tudor Sedan
Color "B" = Sheridan Blue

Thank you! Can the '249779' reveal who the original owner was? More importantly, is that public information?

Well, it's possible since you have the VIN number "B1DA249779". However, you probably would need to know what state it was registered in last. Then, you may have to chase ducks depending on how many times it was sold and moved after the last registration.
