Oh goodness! I sure hope it didn't ruin the transmission fly wheel teeth things. I can only imagine how expensive that would be.
I looked for the starter and it is down in there so far it looks like the alternator and all that stuff around the alternator will have to come off just to get to the starter. I guess that is it on the front of the engine under the alternator area?

So you guys know what size or kind of tool it will take to get to the starter and take it off?
I am a female and am learning as I go. As long as I can see it and get to it... I can probably take it off. Ha ha! I like fixing things but this is all new to me. Anyone live close to Nashville Tn.? Ha ha!

Thank you so so much for that link duke. I am trying really hard to look closely at the pictures so I can tell what I am looking at tomorrow when I crawl up under the ole car.

Oh god. I hope someone told her to start by taking offthe negativebattery cable. Else she'll be liable to fry her hands. Anyhow, the bat. cable first - then the starter which is likely 3 bolts for the actual starter and2 or3 for the wires. Sometimes the one wire is a clip-on deal and other times it's a small nut. Either way the 2 or 3nuts that hold the wires are sometimes all different, sometimes 2 different ones. The 3 starter bolts though areusually all the same. It may be wise to have a metal file and when you remove the starter - look in the hole (with a mirror if need be) and see if the teeth are jagged at their edges. If so you'll want to file the teeth - get a quite large screwdriver that fits in the teeth (and provided it's not stick/manual shift (which would have to be in neutral for this) you can take the screwdriver and carefully turn the engine around exposing the next group of teeth to remove any burs from until your all the way back where you started. If you do not remove the burs from the failed starter it's a pigeon-shoot as to whether or not the starter will encounter any problems. Also it allows you to see that none of the teeth are broken off the flexplate/flywheel so that you don't end up putting in 50 starters only to realize it's a combination of problems that ruined the first one. P.S. Also - when jacking a vehicle never go under without jackstands and always grab the car and give it a loving shake around to be sure the stands aren't going to slip. Safety or suicide - it's freedom of choice but you know what I'd pick. Heck - I even keep the jack set lightly against (provided I have the room) in case the stands do fall.

I remember reading somewhere on that link that dukesport sent me about taking the negative cable off first. Thank you again for the warning.
I have been lookiing for someone who has those stands tht you drive the car upon so I don't have to rely on a jack for safety. I hope I don't find any jagged teeth.
