Timing a 59 ford 332
 
Can anyone help with timing my 59 332 ford had heads done up so moter was half striped done the tdc thing new points and condenser plenty of fuel to 4 barrel holley but will not fire backfires through carb have tryed everything but no luck any suggestions

Sounds like maybe your distributor is 180 out... My buddy was putting an engine together, and the same thing happened to him. After going through all the possabilities.... he finally found that he put the distributor in the wrong position.

Try unbolting the distributor and lifting it up just enough to free it from the cam gear... and then turn it half a rotation. And then set it back in place, and bolt it back in. With a little luck... thats all you need.

(Of course you'll have to switch your spark plug wires around so there in the right firing order again)
