Update my touch

I'll be doing my first update on myfordtouch sync this weekend. Recently bought a 2014 FLEX and the system has not updated since May of 2014. The Nav SD card is missing so I ordered an A6 card which will be here soon. Question... Should I wait until I get the nav SD card to do the update? Will it make a difference?
