Wires/Plugs/ Coil change

I have a 01 Explorer Sport with about 90,000 miles on it. The plugs and wires have never been changed. One of the wires has started to burn thru where it was laying against another piece of metal. So i figured i will need to change the wires and probably the plugs. I was going to get some motorcraft plugs and wires at a minimum. My question is is there a better type of plug to put in to help with fuel mileage, etc, and do i need to replace the coil as well?!?! Just looking for a little guidance. Thanks in advance.

RE: Wires/Plugs/ Coil change

no use motorcraft or autolite same thing autolite's a little cheaper though . Ford has determined that theses are the best plugs for the job so i would take the millions of dollars they spend in reseach and just buy the motorcraft . i wouldn't worry about the coil unless you start having problems , it's not like a distributor no moving parts so it should last a long time.
