Default Valve Job--When?

My 2005 Crown Victoria LX Sport has 130,000 miles and runs great. I know that someday I will need a valve job, and intend to replace the valve springs and retainers at that time.

At what mileage is a valve job usually necessary for a daily driver which never races, but does exceed the 70 mph speed limit occasionally?

What are the warning signs that the valves are no longer seating properly?

What is the "normal cost" of a valve job including springs and retainers?

Thanks a bunch!

of all the makes and models i have owned over the years, I have never owned a vehicle the ever needed valve work. the most important thing you can do for proper engine longevity is keep the oil changed at the proper timeframe. I currenty have a 1999 taurus with over 250,000mi on the motor and the block and valvetrain have never been touched. purchase the highest quality motor oil and filter you can afford. unless you are hell-bent on beating the snot out of a motor, you should never need this type of work performed. i use only synthetic blend or full synthetic in all my cars,my '99 and '98 taurus's get 5w-20 syn blend, '04 taurus, and wifes '03 impala gets 5w-20 mobil 1, '95 suburban gets 10w-30 mobil 1

Default Valve Job

Thanks for your response--i was hoping to hear that someone had never needed a valve job. I also use only Mobil 1 full synthetic Motor Oil and Transmission Fluid.

Hoping for 300K.

Good luck with your vehicles!
