1979 Ford Ranchero Parts problem
 

Hey Guys (and Gals),

My wife and I are new here and wanted to get involved online. We got a 1979 Ford Ranchero that is beautiful. Its stock and in great shape. However, its an automatic transmission and the shifter cable needs to be replaced. I'm a musician and know a lot about guitars and a bit about cars. I've never had so much trouble trying to find an after market part for a car. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Had a 79 Ranchero myself.. 400/Auto loaded.. Was a nice tow vehicle for my boat..

Welcome to the site. I am not sure where you could find a part. I see ads when I watch powerblock tv for YearOne. They deal with older vehicle. Maybe they might have something you can use.

Here's the part number for the cable if you don't already have it.. D70Z-7E395-A

I did a short search with the part number without much luck, nothing available under a dealer search either, but found a few owners parting out 79's during a quick search,, one on Craigslist right here in my area.. (link would work) for a used possibility until an old stock/OEM turns up or replacement found.. There’s always the Dismantler 'hotlines' and salvage yards, or might even be able to adapt a cable for/to your application.. There out there, someone probably has an OEM cable on the shelf collecting dust.. I still have a few floating around from the mid eighty’s...

I am new to forum , have 4 rancheros know the problems well. if you are still needing cable here is your answer the cable from 77- 79 thunderbird,cougar, Ltd II;or possibility montage will work just chanced one. wish you luck
