2001 Taurus starting problem

Hi all, I have a 2001 Ford Taurus SES and have had trouble turning engine over for awhile. It seemed as though the battery was weak and it was replaced but immediately after putting it back together it was really hard to turn over and once in awhile it won't turn over at all. Now when it hasn't started, I've left it sit for an hour or so and it comes back to life and since new battery it hasn't left me stranded, however the last week or so it has been really hard starting and it's been cold temps outside. I drive to work with lights on and all the way home, this afternoon it almost did not start (turning over very slowly) when I went to lunch (car sat for 2-3 hours), however when I went to head back to work it started great, I didn't run the lights at all because I'm thinking maybe it's a charging issue?

You might have a weak altenator or bad starter

Thanks Peanut, it was the starter, finally wouldn't start and I had to tap it with hammer to get the armature in the right position, then it took off!
