2004 Ford E150 5.4 no power
My Ford van has recently lost power. A couple of weeks ago the engine light came on and then even on the slightest incline it has trouble. Put my foot all the way to the floor and it will barely hit 70. idles fine. transmission shifts fine.
Seems to be getting worse.
Someone told me my converter is plugged.
Any ideas?

Before going off the deep end, has the fuel filter been changed just to eliminate a much cheaper repair first? If that doesn't help, an exhaust system back pressure test should be done to confirm if the converter is plugged.

Hanky,
Appreciate the reply. Will check the fuel filter. I imagine I would need to take it into the shop to get a back pressure check?
Been looking around on the internet. A lot of articles on the individual coil packs. This van has over 200K miles. What do you think?
Thanks, Steve

You know that when I think I get into trouble !
Usually if coils are involved you will notice a roughness in engine running and performance. Not saying it is not possible, but something you might consider.
Have the vehicle checked for codes since the engine light has come on to alert you of a problem. Usually the code(s) will provide some direction of the system(s) involved. Many auto supply stores like Autozone will do this for you at no cost.
