2015 Explorer “Check Charginf Sys” Light on
Saturday night while driving “check charging sys” light came on along with check brake sys.
I was about 25minutes away from home.
On my way back home the interior lights and navi screen started to dimmed out. Power steering gave up on me as well.
This happened about 3-4 times.
The last time it happened the vehicle shut off completely.
Since i was doing highway speeds, I was able to pull to the shoulder.
The vehicle started up again no problem. Check charging sys light came on again.
Since this happen on a sat night(ford dealers closed on sundays) i had no choice but to replace ALT with an aftermarket one the following day.
Thinking this was the issue.
After replacing alt light still remained on!
monday, using volt meter i tested battery terminals while car running(tested 14.7Volts) assuming this is good, i turned vehicle off and let car seat for about 15min.
I disconnect battery, decided to test just battery with d vol meter. Notice from 14.7 it started to drop to about 12.6v
I took battery to get tested. Battery failed!
I have now relaced Alt and New OEM battery
but light still comes on!
As of now i’m looking for any suggestions/comments/advise
Please HELP!

On some late model vehicles whenever an alt or battery is replaced the PCM has to be notified (with scan tool) , that a correction has been made. All sorts of charging problems develop because the system still thinks it is not charging, under charging, or overcharging. It might pay to have a check run with a scan tool to verify batt state of cg and alt output are working together. Even when a battery is replaced a battery reset is required.
