Default Motor Rev's to 3K in park

Have a 1998 Ford Expedition that when my wife put it in park the motor rev'ed up to about 3000 RPM's. Is this the IAC? Did this for one day and did not today.

Have you ever cleaned the throttle plate and area or had it done?

How many miles do you have on the truck?

Welcome to the site

Any check engine lights? Sure, it could be IAC.

No lights, and it only happened that one day. I ran it today... and ran fine. Not sure if this is where I reply to fblevins1, becasue Igot an e-mail from Oldcarmechanic, Either way thanks to both of you for your input. I am leaning towards the IAC. Been told that it could be a vacum leak, TPS, etc. Cheapest one first would be cleaning the throttle plate. Any other suggestions please feel free to write. Again thanks

Is there a possibility that something was hanging on the accelerator for a little while? Such as floor mat, or maybe your wife's foot moved over on it while still on the brake? Since it only did it once, I would look for something interfereing with the pedal. Let us know.
