Default New to the fourm....1st problem!

First Hi to all, glad I found this forum, looks like lots of info. I have a 1997 FORD E350, 7.3 diesel, cutaway chassis, 24' motor home. I need to replace the Transmission range sensor on the E40D trans. I have removed the shift cable, and the two mounting bolts, but still can't get the part off of the square shaft that comes out of the transmission. It' a plastic part & I don't want to pry too hard. What else is holding it on the trans. Thanks for the help. JOHN

Welcome to the site..

Once you remove the selector lever, 2 mounting bolts, it should just slide off.. The shaft/collar with the alignment groove will rust or get bound up with debris and can make it a tight pull.. Spray some penetrant and wobble it side to side with some outward force, should come off..

I'll give some more pressure, just wanted to check there wasn't some clip that I could't see holding it in the shaft. THANKS for the reply. Next chance I get to slide under the truck I'll give it a try.
