Hi - I'm the latest newbie here! I'm an original owner of a 99 Explorer. I wondered if anyone else had had trouble with brake pedal noise??? My brake pedal makes a crunching noise every time you push it down. My mechanic said it's safe, but the master cylinder needs replacement to stop the noise??? I can't justify that kind of money to fix a noise, but this is going to make me nuts!!! Tried lubricating the pedal - nothing has worked. Any ideas?

where the noise come from? brake pedal or brakes?

Brakes: it could be brake pads
Brake Pedal: like your mechanic said, it is the master cylinder problem.

anyway, welcome to the forum.

Yes, the noise comes from the brake pedal itself. Thanks for your advice.
