Question on 2003 Taurus GL
 

Hi. i have a 2003 ford taurus and i noticed a light on the dash that didnt go off. the light looks like an engine, i think. i know its not the "engine light" cause when i bought the car it was on. it no longer is on. this is a new light ive never seen before. its on the left side of the gauges. can someone tell me what it might be. please thanks, tela

This is tough, because the Check Engine Light is the only thing down there. You wouldn't confuse it with the door ajar or traction control (which is center left low in the cluster). It kinda has to be the CEL. However, make a liar out of me. If you turn on the ignition, before you crank the car, does that same light go on then go out? If it just stays on, then there is a problem in the fuel injection system that requires attention.

thanks for responding it is appreciated and i made a mistake it is the check engine light that is on. when it came off my husband was driving and we were merging into traffic onto the freeway and he "put it to the wood" and i heard a noise and then the light came on. any ideas? the light has not gone off since
