Default Should I change Transmission Fluid

I have a 2005 Ford Escape 6 cyl 2WD with about 104,000 miles. I bought it at 80,000 miles and I am not sure if the transmission fluid had been changed prior to my purchase. I have heard that if your vehicle has reached the 100,000 mile mark with no prior fluid change then I shouldn't do it now. So what should I do? Get it changed/flushed or leave it? Thanks.

Good question in a CD4E. I work on these all day long, and I'd think it would be a crap shoot. If you do flush it, it might not hurt. On the other hand, if this is really dirty fluid, then the sludge is the only thing holding it together.
