SYNC/US Cellular issue

I can't answer or hang up calls using the phone button on the steering wheel. I have an LG phone with US Cellular service. Anyone else had problems? I notice on the website that there are NO USCellular phones listed, does that mean US Cellular phones don't work with SYNC?

I have a 2018 Escape S--with sync--but the system "is not compatible" with Consumer Cellular, and nobody at Ford customer service is able to tell me why my carrier is excluded.
