Using the F-150 Hybrid to power my house...
Quick question: I just bought the F-150 Hybrid with the 7.2 generator. I currently have wired into my home fuse panel a separate 30Amp breaker that goes to an outside 220plug. I have been using a standalone generator to power the house during outages thru this setup and it works great. I was hoping to be able to accomplish the same thing using the Hybrid generator. I purchased a 25' generator cabler. I then plug that into the generator cable that attaches to the external 220 plug. I then turn off the main fuse and turn off all the individual breakers, and then turn on the 30Amp breaker. All good so far... As soon as I turn on any individual breaker, the truck throws up a ground fault interrupt.
I spoke to my electrician, and he said it is because the generator on the truck is not grounded to the earth because of the tires. He suggested a grounding pole and then grounding the truck. Does that make sense? Has anyone else had an issue like this? I appreciate the help! |
If the gent is a qualified electrician, he should know .
Try it and see if it takes care of the problem. |
maybe a little more net search will help
I just found this info... there may be more info Best https://www.autoweek.com/news/future...g-powers-home/ |
How much gasoline storage is required to run the truck for all those hours? Does Ford have an answer for that question?
