Why does it stop running....

Hey new to this..i have a 1992 f250...this is a electrical problem that has been going on for 1 year,,,,driving me and all that work on it mad...let me start with what i replaced...distributer,coil,ing.module..countless relays..computer..02 sensor and so on.....this is what happens.....on a cold start runs for a mile or 2 engine light comes on then a liitle bit cuts off...with ignition on i get out unplug wire to distrib..to coil 1..2..3..4 times plugging in and out it starts...but i must turn ignition off first or no start...after that it will run forever but with the engine light on....i can turn it off for awile ,while it is still hot and it will start and go without stalling again...at this point it is a quest to figure it out.....found a wire about 3 weeks ago with a pinhole arc from dist.. To coil when i grounded it it died thought it was it because it did not cut out for 2 rides with it ...then dead again....hope someone out there can give me the answer on this one...had 2 outsiders mention wireharness,,,but why when its hot would it matter if that were the case? This is my beach buggy...hate to bury it because of a wire...thanks for your time......mike

Mike,
Have you tried to get the codes from the computer?
There should be some in there if you don't disconnect the battery after the engine quits.
If you can get the codes, we will at least have some direction to go.

Having maintained a fleet of those at one time, I had to replace quite a few bad ignition coils.
