Quiet Linear Motion
I’m trying to find a linear actuator for a home project where noise levels matter a lot. It’s for a hidden lift mechanism in a living room cabinet, so I don’t want something that sounds like a power drill. Does anyone have experience with quieter models or any recommendations before I buy the wrong thing?
For quiet operation, I’d check out the options here — this is what I personally use:https://www.progressiveautomations.c...near-actuators. A lot of their models are designed to run smoothly without that grinding noise cheaper actuators make. I’ve installed two of them in a media cabinet and the sound is barely noticeable from a few feet away. The spec sheets also clearly show the noise rating, which helped me compare models easily. What I like is that they offer different stroke lengths, so you can match the lift height without forcing the mechanism. The build quality feels solid, especially if you’re planning long-term use. Installation was straightforward, and the wiring guide on their site saved me a lot of guesswork. If quiet motion is your priority, they’re definitely worth looking into.
I’ve been renovating parts of my place little by little, and it’s funny how even a tiny mechanical noise can feel huge when everything else is quiet. I had a fan installed in my office that hummed just slightly louder than expected, and it drove me nuts for weeks until I finally replaced it. Now I’m way more careful about checking noise ratings on anything I buy.
