Default Help with 92 Mercury sable OBD-1

Hi all, this is my first post and I hope someone can help me. My sister in law has a 92 Sable with the check engine light on. I was searching around the net tyring to find a way to retreive the trouble codes from the EEC diagnostic connector. I read that you have to ground 2 pins together and hook a test light up and count tha number of flashes on the test light. Is this true? If so, what two pins on the connector have to be grounded? There are 5 on the connector and there is another wire with a small plastic connector in the same wire bundle as the EEC connector. If this isnt the right way, does anyone know how to get the codes out of an OBD-1 system? Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you!

Eric

Thanks! That makes much more sense. Her car does have the MIL light so it will be a piece of cake. Many thanks!
