NMCA Hosts 50th Cobra Jet Reunion in Two Weeks
NMCA stop at Summit Motorsports Park August 23-26, 2018 is the official host of the Ford Performance 50th Anniversary Cobra Jet Reunion, a celebration within the already action-packed Honeywell Garrett NMCA All-American Nationals. The 50th Anniversary Cobra Jet Reunion, which is presented by TascaParts.com,and is packed with modern and nostalgia Cobra Jet drag racing categories, Cobra Jet car show, and other special events including guest speakers and the largest gathering of Cobra Jets in the world.
“We are thrilled and excited to add the 50th Anniversary Cobra Jet Reunion to our NMCA race at Summit Motorsports Park. Not only will fans get to see the usual exciting line-up of NMCA street and race categories, but they will get to enjoy a slice of Cobra Jet history that helped define the factory drag racing wars over the last half-a-century,” said NMCA’s President and CEO Steve Wolcott.
A portion of the left side of Summit Motorsports Park will be turned into a Cobra Jet village with massive tents housing some of the most storied vehicles in Ford’s history. NMCA and Ford Performance officials have already lined up Al Joniec’s Cobra Jet that won the 1968 NHRA Winternationals, ’68 Cobra Jet #1, a special 50th anniversary edition Cobra Jet, and many other significant and historical vehicles. Outside the tents will be the Cobra Jet car show and the pit area for vehicles that are in the drag racing competitions. There will also be autograph sessions and exclusive merchandise on sale.
Because participation in the Cobra Jet drag racing classes, car show, or VIP fan experience requires pre-registration due to the luncheons, celebration dinner seating, reserved parking, and meal prep, the cut-off date is August 15, 2018 and sign up information is available at www.CobraJetReunion.com.
And if the Cobra Jet extravaganza celebration isn’t enough to entertain you for a few days, then there is a complete NMCA national event going on at the same time at the facility! The 17th Annual Honeywell Garrett NMCA All-American Nationals features the World’s Fastest Street Cars as championship drag racing assaults Summit Motorsports Park. The NMCA All-American Nationals features heads-up and index categories open to domestic drag race and street/strip vehicles.
The NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, presented by E3 Spark Plugs, brings Chevys, Fords and Mopars in classes like the high-horsepower, alcohol-burning VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod, small-tire, super quick Mickey Thompson Radial Wars and the true factory hot rods in Holley EFI Factory Super Cars. For the late-model street car crowd, NMCA offers three unique opportunities to race your vehicle for FREE at a legal motorsport venue with the Dodge / Mopar HEMI Shootout, Chevrolet Performance Street Car Challenge, and Gear Vendors True Street.
