Flexplate removal question 1989 ford F250

I have a 1989 Ford F250 460engine automatic transmission. Regular cab.

I need the flexplate replaced. Can the transmission just be slide back to install new flexplate?

IF,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
You have a smooth concrete floor
A good TRANSMISSION JACK that secures the trans to the jack so it can't slide or fall off
You have enough room to move the trans back far enough to get the flex plate off and install the replacement
I would say yes.
If you are working in there and the trans decides to slide because you hit the jack with a creeper , you could get pinned in there or suffer a crushing problem.
I know some folks do it and have no problems, better to be smart and safe and get the trans away from where you need to work.
