Default transporting older truck

Have spotted 2 f250 68 ford pickups in west texas. Both have complete engines (360 cu. in.) , only a few surface rust spots, and no rusted through places at all. Been sitting a long time. Once I get 4 used tires under them, what is the best way to get either one to my home in Katy Tx?. It is about a 4 hour drive one way, but I have not got a trailer or tow tools of any kind. Guess I could rent something, but have never towed anything before. Have a 2011 silverado, w a 4.3 v8, so that should be easily enough power to tow with, but wonder if it would be better to get it delivered here somehow. Anyone with experience with this, would appreciate your input.

thx

Delivered is the best bet and is what I would do..There are companies who specialize transporting autos cross country. Next would be on a flat bed. They have been sitting a long time and you have no idea the condition of wheel bearings, differential or front end, so that would rule out a two wheel lift tow for me.

You might look in to uShip.

https://www.uship.com/

You have the option of making an 'offer' (fixed rate of your choice) or, you can let your listing of a quote type run and see the competitive rate quotes come in.

I travel from CA to TX, and across the US on occasion, and carry freight large and small to offset my fuel costs.
If a carrier is going your way with less than a load, or a car carrier etc with empty space , you can get a very reasonable rate. I had a Honda motorcycle brought to me from a uShip member from SF to Northern CA (about a 12 hr round trip or me) for 150.00. It would have cost me that much in fuel alone for a round trip.
